Hunting and poaching are two very common ways of being , in this day in age. Although hunting your food is better for the animals and the environment, it is still harmful in many ways. Deer hunting, as has been told, does not help to control the deer population in the United States. When hunters buy a license for deer, they are giving money to state wildlife agencies. These agencies have programs in place that intentionally raise the deer population. This leads to overpopulation of deer and ecosystems that are not balanced. The deer are viewed as a crop, and are "grown" so that more hunters will buy licenses and "lower" the population.
Poaching is the act of killing, hunting, or capturing wild animals for sell or trophy. Most animals that you hear about being poached include large game usually found in Africa, such as lions, water buffalo, and gorillas. Poaching is happening right here in the United States, too. Hunting an animal out of season, an endangered animal, or not using a proper weapon are means of poaching. Deer, often hunted for meat, antlers, and recreation, are poached in the United States. This happens when deer, trophy-worthy, or any, are shot out of season. Black bears, sharks, and bighorn sheep are just a few of the animals being poached in the United States.
Endangered animals, even though they are protected, are still poached and hunted. These rarer species sell for a lot on the black market, so poachers have no problem with killing them.
Hunting and poaching are means of killing animals, often for recreation, that do more harm than good.
